The Lunar New Year is on January 25th and we couldn’t be more excited to celebrate. Food is an important part of Chinese culture and a lot of thought and care is put in to the feasts prepared for the most important holiday in the Chinese calendar.

To mark the year of the rat, we’ve rounded up our favourite Lunar New Year events in London.

Chinese Dumpling Cooking Class & Lunch in Shoreditch

In Chinese culture, dumplings represent wealth and it’s traditional to eat them in the New Year. If you want some extra luck on your side as you go in to the new year, join host Ally for a traditional Chinese dumpling cooking class. You’ll learn how to make dumplings three different ways, then sit down to enjoy your handmade culinary creations. The meal is followed by a delicious dessert and a Chinese green tea tasting.

“Growing up in China, I looked forward to Chinese New Year’s Eve because my whole family would get together to make dumplings. Now that I’m away from home, making dumplings is a way for me to connect with my roots. I want to share this beautiful experience with more people!” – Eatwith host, Ally
