I am Turkish, living in Üsküdar, trained by my grandma to cook. Cooking is my meditation and if I have no one to serve, my meditation is not complete! I make sure my food includes a lot of motivation and effort to be better each time. You'll feel good at my place because in Üsküdar every street has at least one centuries old building. Next to my home, there is a 400+ year old mosque and right across from my window is a 400+ year old hamam. So, I would like to have a neighborhood tour with my guests before or after meal. I have studied and worked both in Istanbul and Tokyo. After working in technology start ups for years, I have promoted to being a full time cook! I love to talk about food (obviously), literature(hard core ones!), and economics and statistics(numbers never lie). I love to travel, love to share what I've seen. And I love to hear your traveling stories too!

5 Stars -- Everything about this meal was fantastic! Wonderful host, interesting neighborhood, tasty food with good stories. We felt instantly at home with Asude and her friend and conversation was very easy and enjoyable. We were inspired by her and her story and the meal was great. Highly recommended. We hope to return the favor someday. Thanks again!

The cats were really friendly and Asude went to great lengths to explain the history of each dish which she prepared. Great variety of authentic tastes.

On my recent solo travels, I had the pleasure of dining at Asude's house, and it was one of the best experiences of the entire trip. Istanbul was a bit challenging for me due to both cultural and physical reasons, but Asude made me feel welcomed and well cared for her in home. Before I even went to the dinner, Asude reached out and made sure to ask for any allergies as well as any personal preferences for food. I would later find out that she was herself vegetarian, but went out of her way to prepare some additional meat dishes for me to try out. At the dinner itself, I found myself in the company of her two lovely cats as well as a Japanese/Australian lady she was currently hosting as well. The meal included an starter soup dish, multiple mezzes, a main course, a dessert, Turkish coffee and sangria throughout. By the end I was crazy full, and we spent an additional few hours chatting about life. I would VERY much recommend Asude to all those who are interested in expanding their understanding and seeing beyond what is merely on the streets for tourists to experience. Consider that for the amount you're paying, you are welcomed into a home, given everything you could eat, and have an opportunity to learn about a culture and life that is often inaccessible to most. Thank you Asude for the dinner, I'm also happy to have made a friend in Istanbul :) This was certainly one of the greatest highlights of my trek through Europe and Turkey, and should I be in the neighborhood again I would gladly come back again!
