Since Matteo’s paternal family is Pugliese, we give to those in Rome who may not get the chance to travel to the heel of the "boot", a chance to dine with us as we cook some of our favourite Pugliese dishes. We like to add our own modern touch to traditional specialties using ingredients bought during our stays in Puglia; homemade puccie bread paired with jams for antipasti, homemade cinnamon taralli with dark chocolate dip for dessert…served with Negroamaro wine bought directly from the cantina.
Antipasti - Homemade mini puccie (olive and spicy kinds) with tomato and onion jams
Primi (First course): Orecchiette con cime di rape - a typical pugliese pasta dish with broccoli rabe AND Riso con patate e cozze - Carnaroli rice with potatoes and mussels, ovenbaked
Dolci (desserts): Taralli alla canella con cioccolato fondente fuso - our cheeky take on churros, using artisanal cinnamon taralli bought during our recent trip in Puglia, served with our own dark chocolate dip AND Mini pasticciotti - A dessert from Galatina, little tarts of toothsome shortcrust pastry encasing vanilla custard and cherry compote.
