Meet Emillio
I'm back to hosting dinner parties in SF, after being in NYC (to finish my first book). I t is no coincidence that my last name, Mesa, translates to “table.” I was born to be a host. I am hospitality professional with 15+ years in hotel openings, catering management, and special events. My specialties include planning, business/concept development, decor, cooking for dinner/cocktail parties, and creating specialty cocktails. I am also a writer. My articles, essays, and profiles appear in The New York Times, NY Press, SF Weekly, Interview, OUT, Four Two Nine, The Huffington Post-among others. Why are sit-down dinners so powerful? The underlying main ingredient is the community aspect. Every guest is a surprise. It tears down people’s perceptions of borders, allowing them to meet and “break bread” with different nationalities, races, genders, and socioeconomic backgrounds. The best way to make lasting memories, in a new city, is through a dinner party. *C/O my Instagram for pics of my food, events and life: emilliom1 **Please let me know if you have any food allergy/restrictions. **I only cook with fresh/seasonal ingredients.

The Caribbean-themed Thanksgiving Dinner with Emillio was more than I could have hoped for. From the food to the hospitality to the guests, everything about the evening was absolutely lovely. Beginning with emails leading up to the event, Emillio was warm and friendly and set the stage for the evening. His skills as a host continued throughout the night making sure everyone was comfortable and had what they needed--and he did it in a way that made you feel like you were at a friend's home. His apartment was perfectly suited for a dinner of 10 guests, allowing for conversation between the whole group as well as one on one conversations. And then there's the food. In one word, delicious! It was healthy, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. Adding to the ambience were Emillio's stories about the history of the food--both from a personal and a cultural perspective. Following dinner Emillio broke out the bubbly and had a 'game' prepared to keep the conversation flowing. I didn't get to spend the holiday with family and old friends, but thanks to Emillio's dinner, I can instead say I spent it with new friends. I look forward to another meal with Emillio!

Emillio's Carribean Holiday dinner was something I will not soon forget. The food was delicious and the atmosphere he created was very comfortable and homey. By the time we left, it was as if we had known each other for a long time. It was our first EatWith experience and he set the bar high!
