Some of the dishes frequently churned out of my kitchen: meaty braises, beautiful salads, comida criolla, savory and sweet pies, and marzipan cakes. I've been part of NOVA's food and wine scene since 2009 after a job at the National Gallery of Art drew me away from upstate New York's beautiful wine country where I'd spend days riding a fork lift, jumping inside wine presses with a hose, and playing frisbee. While a student at Cornell's Hotel School, I learned from the Statler Hotel chefs--admirable teachers of technique and creativity--and worked the line at Taverna Banfi. More recently, after two years defending premium cigars, I am now a happily married Del Ray resident blessed by the Lord with time and a peaceful home, raising a chubby little foodie, and hosting events on EatWith. Any given evening can be ripe for a round of Bananagrams, or my brother-in-law playing the violin, or spontaneous dancing, or lively lullabies, or a reading of one of Oscar Wilde's hilarious plays, or discussing my husband's latest obsession (electric bikes? aquaponics? financial markets?) I hope you'll join us!

I took my mother to Cristinas's for dinner, as a Christmas present. We were greeted by her husband and son (who was very happy to see us!). The salad was full of flavor and textures, the lamb was succulent, and the dessert (which has now been added to my mother's list of favorite comfort foods) was a terrific blend of flavors. We thoroughly enjoyed chatting with the Tomes during our visit. They were very friendly, and their home was welcoming. It was an experience we will cherish. It was definitely a 5-star event!

We truly enjoyed our time with the Tomes and the meal the so kindly served. The family from grandmother to toddler were all wonderful hosts, and the meal itself was phenomenal. The entree was truly wonderful, and combined with the good company provided a wonderful dining experience. I would certainly recommend the Tomes to others.

I am so glad we came to Cristina's house for dinner. It was an amazing experience, the food was incredible. I am from Puerto Rico and living in the states doesn't provide too many opportunities to enjoy puerto rican cuisine, Cristina's take on traditional dishes was wonderful and refreshing. Cristina is a very warm host and made us all feel comfortable and made sure we all had plenty to eat. I give it 5 stars!
