Romanian goodies

Romanian matured cheese & traditional sausages, paired with walnuts & our favorite Romanian red wine. I will also invite you to try a traditional vegetable spread very popular here in Romania called "zacusca". The one I serve is made by my mother.

Caraway & onion soup

I'm not sure if this soup is 100% Romanian or 100% traditional, but is the soup my mother used to cook all the time. And it's pretty delicious :D

main course

Pork stew

Our favorite Romanian stew - is made with fresh vegetables & pork and the recipe is based on a royal recipe written by Princess Margareta of Romania. I serve it with "mamaliga", Romanian polenta. After this course, I will invite you to try a traditional Romanian spirit made by my father- it's called "ţuică".

Gomboți - a traditional dessert

For dessert I'm gonna make one of our favorite Romanian desserts- "gomboți", sweet dumplings filled with delicious plums or apricots (depending on the season).

If we don't have them in season, I'm gonna bake an apple tart. Apple pies are a very common dessert in Romanian houses and I gave mine a twist by turning it into a tart & serving it with vanilla ice cream.

We cannot get over how wonderful our evening was, spent with Mihai and Miruna in their gorgeous home. Not only was the traditional cuisine absolutely spectacular, but so was the conversation and ambience. It's hard to pick highlights as we enjoyed everything so much, it was clear how much love and care was put into this experience. Some lovely touches were the zacusca spread, made by Mihai's mother and the family made tuica (a Romanian aperitif). We chatted for hours, about all manner of things and felt like we gained a better insight into true Romanian life than any tour could have given us. It was also wonderful to be able to share our own stories about Australia with Mihai and Miruna too. The whole experience was so comfortable, it felt like an evening spent with old friends. I would recommend this dining experience again and again. A traditional, hearty home cooked meal, wonderful wine and brilliant company and for the cost?! Wow. We would choose this over a dinner in the Old Town restaurants any day. Thank you once again for your hospitality guys. We hope you enjoyed yourselves as much as we did!

We had a lovely meal with Michal and his wife - they great hosts and gave us a warm and friendly experience. The food and the wines were excellent- when we are next in Bucharest we will definitely Eatwith them again. I most highly recommend, Bill and Wendy.

I enjoyed an exceptional home cooked Romanian meal at Mihai and Miruna Marcu’s. Mihai is passionate about cooking and his passion shows in the flavor, quality and presentation of each course. Bonus points for the expertly paired wine with each course. Mihai and Miruna are the perfect hosts. By the end of the evening, it was as if we were life-long friends! Don’t miss this experience with Mihai and Miruna when you’re in Bucharest, Romania. #cozytraditionaldinnerindowntownbucharest
