Meet Sahar
Hello, I'm Sahar, I was born in Lebanon and I grew up in the Bay Area. I came to Morocco as a tourist, fell in love with the color, smell, and beauty of this kingdom. Moved to Marrakech in 2012, married the most wonderful Moroccan guy who happened to be my driver when I was visiting as a tourist!!! Together we have a beautiful, small but cozy boho style Riad in the heart of the Medina Marrakech. Having access to fresh produce made this _moi_ vegetarian a happy camper :-) I enjoy cooking at home, mostly vegetarian/vegan but also cook with meat. I've always enjoyed hosting dinners and brunches for friends and families whether here in Morocco or back in the US. In Morocco, I'm challenged to work around what I can find at the market, not all the ingredients we enjoy having access to in most supermarkets in the US are available here. So, I had to improvise, I started making simple, yet satisfying dishes using local in-season ingredients and spices. My dishes are a fusion of food I grew up having in the Middle-East married to Moroccan flavors, mixed with modern healthy alternatives ingredients. I was shocked when I moved to Marrakech that the locals don't know the Falafel?!? if you come to our riad (home) you will always find homemade Hummus, Falafel and of course the famous Moroccan Tagine on our table. I love falafel so much that I named one of our cats Falafel

Sahar was an amazing host. We contacted her well in advance to open the date for us and she did. She made the most awesome food (vegan!) that tasted better than half of the stuff (non vegan) that we ate in the city. She told stories about Marrakech, about what it is like to live there and also shared her own personal story. All in all we spend 3 hours, had 3 courses and had the best time ever! Would return in a heart beat!

This was my first EatWith experience and I must say I was completely blown away by the awesome feast Sahar put together. It was Thanksgiving night in the US and Sahar made everything Thanksgiving ish using the best local ingredients and spices. In addition to the food, her rooftop where we had our dinner was absolutely stunning. One of the best parts of dinner was that we were able to learn more about Moroccan cultures and do cultural exchanges which is my favorite part of traveling. Thanks Sahar for the wonderful experience.
