COOKING CLASS AND TOUR - Exploring a Taste of Austria

Accompany on a shopping and tasting tour at the most famous open-air market in Vienna! While I tell you about the history of the market, as well as the historical background of our great imperial city, we will purchase traditional regional delicacies such as: Leberkäse (meat loaf), home-made sauerkraut, Mohnzelten (poppey seed baked treats), smoked trout, local artisan cheeses and cold cuts, hand-crafted breads and domestic wines. 
At the end of the tour, we will have a private indoor lunch at one of the popular stands, enjoying more delights, while finishing of with a wonderful small glass (“Stamperl”) of Austrian Schnaps.

I am a person who loves to read, write, travel and enjoys people from all different ways of life. Since I have travelled and lived in several countries, my outlook on life is a very international one. I have a 23 year old daughter and a small black dog who is always with me. 

My passion for cooking comes from my early days when I grew up in Salzburg. My father and mother both worked mainly abroad and food has always been an issue to try and indulge in our family. For guests my mother always cooked elaborate meals and spoiled them with international and local specialties. 

When  I moved to Canada to study at U.B.C. (in Vancouver), I always cooked with or for friends, already then collecting recipes from all over the world trying new delicacies and spices whenever I could. My apartment was close to Granville Island Market which became my favorite grocery store with all the fresh products and the increadible variety of fish and ethnic foods to buy.

Hosting guests from all paths of life is a true joy and tradition. Making everybody feel welcome at my home is a personal concern.
