Wow, what a feast! I never thought I would have said this, but I couldn't eat another crafish for a while. The spicing on the boil was great and reminded me of many a happy hour stuffing my face with crawfish in New Orleans, the sausage corn and potato sides also kept coming. Bob even gave me a bin liner to carry the heads home, they have now been dried and are steeping in olive oil for a couple of months. The only downside was the range and price of the beer at The Doodle Bar. Everything on tap was either a lager, helles or pale ale (and half of these were off); nothing darker, and at they were at least £6 a pint. A 330ml bottle of stout was £5.40.... for goodness sake!

There was a lot of Crayfish. The sausages were wonderful. Quite similar to Morteau sausages if not the same. There was too much pepper in everything. So much pepper that you could see black grooves of pepper embedded in the corn and crayfish. Too much. We eat spicy but this was overpowering pepper. I think that the crayfish would fare better served alongside some flavoured butter because the meat inside didn’t get any seasoning for obvious reasons. The hosts were great. The band was great. The food was plentiful.
