A History Of Jewish Gastronomy In The Oldest House In Barcelona

We offer you a unique experience.

Our scenario: A house, three stories, enchanting atmosphere, old walls, high ceilings, rooftop terrace, one of the oldest buildings in the city. Casa Adret stands in what was once the heart of Jewish Quarter, entering it’s walls is a shortcut to the Middle Ages. This significant location demanded extreme thoughtfulness on the part of the building’s designers, who have carefully crafted a structure that has become a symbol of the new face of the old Call.

Our food: Jewish culinary festival. In a nut shell, Middle East meets West, Sepharad and Ashkenaz (West and Eastern Europe) cuisine with a touch of México, Italy and Australia. 
The word festival has been used because that´s what we offer, a festival for your eyes, on your plate and certainly for your mouth. We are inspired by the way the mothers and grandmothers of our lives have served us food: abundantly and with love. 

We consider ourselves something between Yiddishe Momme and La Mamma Italiana (if there´s any difference…) In this menu we will surprise you with different flavours from our different backgrounds. Everything will be set on the table so you can build your own perfect bite.

*We cook for anyone, so the menu can adapt to intolerances, allergies, food preferences such as vegetarians or vegans.
*Our meal is not Kosher certified but in request is Kosher style.

We have a great variety of dishes so we have decided to make different combinations every night. This is just a sample menu:

Imagine arriving to  El Call, the old Jewish quarter, from crowded streets and narrow lanes, and you enter two enormous wooden doors and a patio that holds the XIII remains of the original house. This four floor, single standing building, with a renovation by award winning architects, reaches to the sky and hosts original stones, walls and two rooftop terraces. Now cultural space and centre of research called Casa Adret, you literally eat with history as we weave the history of the old Jewish quarter and explore Jewish food traditions.  

Monica, from Mexico City, was raised in a Syrian Jewish family, and Eva, from Melbourne Australia, has Askenazi Polish heritage and Irish roots. Together, we are Toldot Barcelona. Though we from very different backgrounds, different corners of the globe,  our journey has been intertwined through food. Food has always been part of our lives, for us food is memory, food is experience, food is heritage, food is story. We explore a celebration of family flavours and traditions and want to share them with you!


We create a ‘festival table’, abundant salads, salsas, dips, artisan breads, and dishes that hold a personal history while paying homage to the incredible history of Casa Adret and the beautiful local produce here in Barcelona. We want to create an experience where you can share your stories and we can tell ours. We believe that worlds can come closer by eating at the same table and sharing flavours!
