But what is a kafenio?

A kafenio (everyday Greek καφενεíο, literary Greek καφενεῖον kafenion; plural kafenia) is a Greek café.
The kafenia are very special places, simple and heterogeneous, where you eat traditional home-style cooking and drink coffee, wine or ouzo. But above all they are meeting places, where people talk, laugh, sing, play and argue, strongly linked to the neighborhood and the place of origin of its owners.
