Hi, I'm Raf! I was born and raised in the Philippines and five years ago, I moved to New York. As a passionate foodie, I have searched for New York's best Filipino restaurants and I want to share them with you. I enjoy telling stories about Filipino culture using a culinary experience to fellow foodies. I have written about Filipino food and hosted private Filipino dinners where I tell my guests about what makes our cuisine so amazing. Another passion of mine is cooking. Check out @houseband_material on Instagram. Looking forward to meeting you!

Raf was an enthusiastic and excellent host! We enjoyed a delicious meal and learned a lot about the Filipino history and kitchen. This tour is 100% recommended, you won’t regret it.

As a Filipino American, I was curious to learn more about my culture and its food from a host who has made waves in New York's Filipino Food Movement. Host Raf didn't disappoint by any means. While at his experience, he made sure everyone was welcomed and comfortable, re-introduced our itenerary and menu, faciliatated fun discussions along with trivia, and explained each dish as we ate. I could tell that Raf has put so much passion and care into his tours and anyone who attends, Filipino or not, can learn and eat something new.

It was an amazing experience. We started off at a small Filipino grocery store, the only one in Manhattan, and then walked to nearby Filipino restaurants. We were seated immediately and our food arrived shortly after. At each and every stop, we received interesting bits of information regarding the Philippines, their cuisine, and about the establishments themselves. All the food was eaten family style, so you sample a bit of everything from the signature Adobo to sisig to my favorite Filipino dessert Halo-Halo! Raf was a great host and did a wonderful job explaining not only the cuisine but customs as well. He helped make our small group gel and created a fun and enjoyable experience. I highly recommend this experience to small groups that are visiting NYC and are staying in Manhattan. I will certainly return to the restaurants we visited. Thank you once again, Raf!
