Overlooking both Collserola Mountain and the old 17 century street remains of old Barcelona, in what was the old market square, we can talk you through the finest Catalan cavas and wines. El Born is a bustling area, full of small independent food shops which are right here on our doorstep. Here we will buy ingredients like 5 year old acorn fed cured ham, fresh Galician octopus or the finest spiced chorizo for the ultimate tapas! You will not get our version of some classics in the local cafes around here.

Sònia was born and raised Catalan. Her knowledge of cava, of which 95% is made here in Catalonia, is unquestionable. Along with her ability to present dishes passed down to her from her mother, who was a professional chef, we can guarantee you'll eat and drink the very best, while admiring the mountain views from the dining table, as the sun sets over Collserola.

In the heart of El Born, in the plaza at the top of Passeig del Born, you discover the twentieth century wrought iron covered market which now has the preserved early 17 century ruins of the old city which were uncovered during a recent renovation. The dining room looks onto both the old ruins and also over the rooftops of Barcelona to Collserola Mountain. It's an impressive view, but an equally impressive flat. 120 square metres with beautiful, original tiled flooring with a modern, open plan kitchen and dining room.

Olivas, Gildas & Anxoas

The Spanish cure for just about anything (cold, flu, hangover…) is gazpacho. And with good reason. This veggie-packed cold soup (more like a thin smoothie or juice) packs in vitamins– and has existed long before the current health trends.

I prefer my gazpacho served ice cold and in a glass. I love the traditional version (pepper, tomato, garlic, onion, extra virgin olive oil, and sherry vinegar) but also like versions with cucumber and even fruit — my watermelon gazpacho is delicious!

Gazpacho

The ultimate Galician traditional dish. It is referred to as ‘pulpo á feira’ (in Galician), ‘pulpo a la gallega’ (in Spanish) or simply ‘pulpo’. Boiled to a perfect point and served with paprika, salt, and olive oil, cooking octopus is an art in Galicia.

Possibly one of the easiest dishes on the list, chorizo a la sidra is simply delicious Spanish chorizo (paprika-spiced pork sausage) cooked in dry Spanish cider. Ideally, you buy fresh or semi-cured sausage for this dish and use Asturian or Basque dry cider. We also give you the best botifarra from our local butcher.

Chorizo & Botifarra

A classic dish which we have perfected over the years. Serve it from the pan or on lightly toasted fresh bread rubbed with ripe tomato, drizzled with olive oil and rock salt.

Our finest selection of cheeses and spiced, aromatic sausages from Catalonia and farther afield.

These little fried peppers are addictive — I call them Spanish popcorn! Luckily, they’re also super simple to make (and to grow, depending on where you live).

We travel frequently and my passion and job is photography. I live in a beautiful part of Barcelona, in a beautiful flat with views of the mountains which surround the city. The area has excellent, independent food and wine shops where we buy all our products. We host evening wine tasting and meals for our friends, serving them the best quality food and drinks from interesting experiences from our travels with local produce from Catalonia. A friend suggested we register with EatWith and I hope we can host many more people with our passion for making memorable evenings.
