Join us for a culinary rendezvous with the heart- and soul-warming flavours of Kerala, set in the lovely Layla Bakery on Portobello Road.
Picture this... you arrive at the lovely supper club venue - Layla, an artisan bakery on the iconic Portobello Rd - an are welcomed on a beautiful summer evening with a hand-crafted drink of your choice, and a little savoury nibble of freshly made banana chips. I will be there to get you settled in, answer any questions you have, and help you feel like you've just shown up at my home.
Step in to my world - the lighting is warm, the wine is flowing, the candles are lit, and the music sets the mood. Welcome home. And just like that, your magical experience has begun!
I want to leave you with this lovely thought from Padma Lakshmi which resonates with me so very deeply~ “How we eat is an extension of how we love, how we comfort, how we forge a sense of home, and how we taste the world as we navigate our way through it.”

Abracadabra Meet Priyanka - your host for the evening
GET YOUR HANDS DIRTY
Masala Vadai A South Indian favourite and popular street-side snack - a lentil fritter with a little heat from the pepper, an incredible aroma from the minced curry leaves
Classic coconut chutney
EXCITE THE SENSES
Banana leaf The main course will be served the traditional (and sustainable) way - on a fresh, gorgeous, glistening green banana leaf. It prevents waste, enhances the flavours of the hot food, and frankly just looks awesome!
Kerala-style egg curry The star of the show - a home-made style, rustic and chunky, hot and spicy unctuous tomato and onion gravy served as the base for spiced, pan-fried hard-boiled eggs
Malabar paratha A glorious layered, flatbread - the perfect combination for the curry
Coconut rice Crunchy cashews, toasted coconut, mustard seeds, whole black peppercorns, sauteed gently with rice
Pachadi A cooling smooth yogurt-based dish, mixed with fresh seasonal summer vegetables to help cut through the spice and heat
Salad Fresh onion and green chillies, sliced thin, drizzled with coconut oil and a generous squeeze of lime
Strasberry pickle Strasberries (think strawberry x raspberry), picked in sesame oil and spices - a revelation if there was one!
Appalams Rice and lentil-based poppadoms
SOOTHE YOUR FIERY SOUL
Payasam A sweet milk-based dessert, with a very special ingredient - drink it, slurp it or eat it politely with a spoon - it's your call at this time of the night!
QUENCH YOUR LIQUID CRAVINGS
Layla bar The wonderful folks at Layla will also have their bar open all evening, serving a range of artisanal natural wines, heady cocktails, delicious mocktails and other beverages to keep you hydrated and happy!
