You’ll visit some of the best bars in town and enjoy a personalized selection of pintxos and drinks on each, along with some history and insights about the Local Food Scene and Basque Food Culture and History. Food and drinks are included and should be taken as a full dinner with a drink pairing. 

A tour of the city intertwined with the food, including local history, and culture, and exploring 2 different neighborhoods. Five food stops which have a pintxo in each stop and drink pairings for each place.

Pintxos route with a research chef

We will start with some traditional pintxos, with the inflatable 'Gilda', some pintxo according to the market and the season and we will go up through some vegetarian specialties, then fish, to end with the typical meat stews of the region. For dessert cheesecake, at the end we will have tried about five pintxos, and five different drinks.

As a young chef, I first came to San Sebastian in 2005 to work at Mugaritz. I worked for 10 years with top chefs, both Michelin starred and 50Best listed, in Spain, Germany and Latin America before moving back to the city to establish myself as a gastronomic researcher at the Basque Culinary Center five years ago. I have lectured on food culture topics and restaurant innovation at different universities and conferences around the world. Giving food tours started as a hobby I did for friends from the culinary world who visited the city, then I started giving them for an agency before designing my routes, with a selection of what I consider the best culinary gems in the city.
