Professional chef Jon Villar has over 20 years of experience. He became the former head chef at Pj's Grill, Minako at the Met, Kopapa, Mber & Gammagamma Soho, and finally decided to open up his own pop-up restaurant Wok with Jon in Shoreditch. Jon works around the clock to offer fresh flavours, with a mix of authentic classic and modern innovative Asian dishes. His inspiration comes from flavours from growing up in the Philippines, and his later travels around Asia, the Middle East and Europe.

We had such a wonderful night with Jonathan and his incredible food. I arrived after reading reviews saying the evening went on far too long but it was very different the night we were there - it lasted just over 3 hours which was perfect. Every course was absolutely fantastic but the highlights were probably the salt baked miso celeriac, the smoked jackfruit kofta and of course the vegan fry up. Jonathan himself is such a lovely guy and took time to speak to everyone and explain the dishes and answer any questions. As with other reviewers, we did leave incredibly full but I don't class this as a bad thing! The venue was also lovely - I would ignore those who have moaned about it - you're eating at a popup, not a fine dining restaurant. All the staff at the venue were great too and we really loved the garage soundtrack to the evening!

I am so glad we chose to go to this event. We do not regret it one bit. It is some of the most amazing food and flavours we have ever had and all vegan!! I would highly recommend trying out this experience to anyone looking for not your typical restaurant dinner.

Loved it. As a non vegan myself with a vegetarian partner. The evening was booked to appreciate new and exciting food. Jonathan didn't disappoint, with exciting new flavours, and reinterpreted familiar dishes in a vegan format. As a host, he exudes passion, and although busy made time to inform you of each course and the inspiration behind it. Highly recommend a visit, and looking forward to visiting the new restaurant opening in a few months.
