You may have come to Rome to experience the art and history, but the only real way to understand Roman culture is through your stomach! Escape from all the tourists for an evening and join me on an exploration of the vibrant markets of Rome (in the morning about 10:30) We will gather all of the freshest ingredients and return in the afternoon to my home for a mouthwatering home-cooked meal with lots of wine to wash it down!
We will start the meal with a few appetizers: Bruschetta with tomato, olives and anchovies Zucchini pastries with gorgonzola, zucchini and parmesan cheese Bruschetta with salmon and sautéed artichoke hearts My Grandma's famous mozzarella in carrozza recipe
For the main course, I will prepare: Stuffed tomato with rice and spices Handmade tagliolini with porcini mushrooms and parsley Spaghetti carbonara made with crisp bacon curls Tonnarelli with fennel, zucchini flowers and prawns Lasagna filled with spinach, peas, gorgonzola, besciamelle mozzarella and grana cheese Saltimbocca alla romana , special roman veal with ham and sage
And to top off the meal I will serve: Freshly brewed coffee and Limoncello, an Italian lemon liqueur from southern Italy Tasty tiramisu, a traditional coffee-flavored Italian dessert Rorta caprese, a rich chocolate cake made with ground almonds Torta della nonna which translates to "Grandmother's Cake", a tart pastry made with Chantilly cream and pine nuts Homemade vanilla ice cream yogurt topped with caramelized orange skins
