Before the 3-Course-Meal starts, you will always get some kind of salad in my house. I grew up like that and cannot do it differently :-)
Most of the times, the first Course will be homemade soup. Either traditional Austrian, a light soup with a rich filling, or a creamy soup with the vegetable of the season.
You won't stay hungry after the main course. I will serve you a fairly big portion of a traditional Austrian dish. Which one, depends on the season as well. In winter it might be a warming bowl of potatoe goulash or a pan of sizzling cheese dumplings with a lot of mountain cheese. In summer it might be Kaiserschmarren, a sweet main course Austrian people like to eat when hiking in the Alps.
If there is any fresh fruit of the season, it will definitely find its way to a homebaked cake – from apples to rhubarb, from plumbs to strawberries. In the colder season, traditional Austrian Guglhupf or Viennese Cheese Cake is on my list.
The season will decide the final menue. You are invited to drink Austrian white wine and beer from Salzburg.
