The beautiful hills south of Bologna, called Colli Bolognesi, are the perfect location for a lively "Apericena" a cross between Aperitivo and Cena which means lots of sparkling wine and a tempting buffet of tasty bits from savoury to sweet . To start, a glass or two of local Pignoletto sparkling white wine, a buffet of appetizers including puff pastry spirals with parmesan, parma ham and red currant jam, Star anise marinated salmon (homemade), scarpaccia ( a zucchini savoury tart from north of Tuscany), robiola cheese mousse with fresh herbs from our garden with celery, carrots and peppers , Tunned Eggplant , Zucchini stuffed with rice and smoked salmon, and other little known regional recipes) created with plentiful seasonal produce of nearby organic farmers, or Lucia's foraged edible plants. All this followed by a yummy colorful pasta salad with dried and fresh tomatoes pesto and fresh herbs from the garden . Dessert is normally inspired by seasonal fruit so it will be mini peach tarts with lavender and honey and Greek yogurt with sour cherries confit lovingly prepared by Lucia in June. More white and red wine and coffee to finish the day's delights!
