The weather's turned colder in Canada and snow is in the forecast.
When my kids were in school, their class would have Wednesday Winter Warm-up. Each student would bring an ingredient to school, the class would chop & dice everything, and put it in a soup pot to simmer while they worked on their morning classwork. By noon, the class had a delicious bowl of hot soup to enjoy together, before going outside to play in the snow.
Now that winter is upon us, let's bring back the Wednesday Winter Warm-up for adults. I'll buy the ingredients and we'll prepare soup together. Aprons will be provided. Some of my friends have some suggestions for us: pumpkin curry soup; French onion soup; sweet potato soup; succotash; cheese & sausage, to name a few.
We'll have warm fresh bread or rolls and share it family style (that means you can have a second helping, or two, until the pot is empty!).
I'll pair it with a selection of local, craft beers (2 per person) and warm beverages (tea, coffee, apple cider and hot chocolate). A selection of cookies and squares for dessert.
Each guest will receive a handmade Toque by me (A Toque is a traditional Canadian knit hat) that will keep you warm on the way home!.
