What a better way to soak up Spanish gastronomy, culture and lifestyle than joining a cooking session in our ancient family farmhouse, a traditional "cortijo" surrounded by olive trees and Mediterranean nature to inspire you in the kitchen. Roll up your sleeves and be ready for a "food and hospitality experience": from 10.30am to 15.00pm you will cook and learn but also eat, drink, chat, share, enjoy nature and discover a whole food universe the Spanish way. We will cook 3 dishes based on traditional Spanish recipes (dessert is usually prepared in advanced). Simple, delicious and tasty food prepared with seasonal and mostly local ingredients. Sometimes we don't buy, we just pick from our orchard or trees. You will taste our own organic olive oil and we will introduce you to some local culinary treasures and wine. The dishes vary along the year, as many of them are seasonal. Starters such as "ajoblanco" (cold almond soup), different "gazpachos" (cold soups), salmorejo (a thick and creamy tomato cold soup beautifully garnished), "ensalada malagueña" (orange and salted cod salad) or roasted pepper salad; main dishes like paella, Spanish "tortilla", traditional soupy rice with chicken, noodles paella with fish, meatballs in almond sauce; and home made deserts like sweet couscous with caramelized fruits or quince jam with natillas. The day starts with a welcome breakfast in the patio followed by a short walk around the property to pick fresh ingredients if available. Back in the kitchen we follow with the cooking lesson. There's time for eveything, and you will have a break to recharge batteries by tasting some local cheese or appetizer along with the first glass of wine. And finally we sit around the table to relish the dishes just cooked in a convivial and relaxed atmosphere. Sobremesa with more tea or coffee is a must!
