We live and breath good food, great company and the stories of our daily lives unfolding. Our group of friends are international, well travelled and value fresh produce, homemade preserves, the smell of bread and baked goods in the house. If you join us for a meal, you will be among new friends and dine as we do! We blend a mix of rustic Mediterranean flavours with modern Australian sensibilities where we see connections between an idea and the market's bounty (maybe taking inspiration from a cookbook or a chat with the grocer/farmer. Sometimes we just have a crazy idea - Canadian breakfast tiramisu anyone?).
Beginnings are always with aperitivo (typically a refreshing spritz, Camapri, Sanbitter or Martini) followed by some Italian style antipasti rustica or pan-European canapes to nibble on while introductions ensue. From there call to the table "a tavola" is heeded and candles are lit and the dining room becomes an intimate space in preparation for the main meal. Depending on the company and the whims of the kitchen team your plate may see a primi (usually a seasonal pasta, sometimes risotto, perhaps a summery salad) and/or a secondi (perhaps a juicy pork loin with apple & herbs de provence, maybe new york strip steak with smooth garlic mash & cavolo nero, or our regularly requested roasted lemon and herb chicken with gravy). We love to showcase healthy and fresh vegetarian and fish options too!
And then we come to desserts... the possibilities are endless! Our group have many bakers who love crafting cakes, slices, cookies and pastry treats. We love to play and you might sample pink peppercorn & balsamic meringues, salted caramel icecream, Sicilian almond granita, black forest cheesecake or chocolate truffles. If we're in a traditional mood, expect tiramisu or cannoli! Sometimes, the fruit of the season calls the shots and mangoes, cherries, watermelons, grapes or berries take centre stage.
