I arrived in New York City in 2008 from my hometown of London bursting with positive energy and my entrepreneurial spirit ready to seek my next chapter and adventure in life. Growing up in London, to a family of Mauritian immigrants, I always enjoyed the mix of cultures I came across, each with their own food and drinks that brought out aromas, flavors, and worlds which I knew I wanted to know more about. I knew my passion revolved around hospitality and how well crafted food and drink could make anyone feel welcome. I found New York city mesmerizing, but with no Mauritian restaurants, not even anything close - the only way to eat Mauritian food was to cook it myself. So intuitively, I found myself heading into the kitchen, as a way of feeling connected to my roots and finding some balance in my life. I began cooking for friends, first, hosting them in my 600 sq. ft Soho apartment, or packing up my spice box and cooking for them in their homes. It soon became evident that discerning foodies were looking for more new flavors, food driven by spice and heat. As my passion grew so did the following, I quickly progressed to cooking for friends and hosting Mauritian inspired pop-up dinner parties all over the US from the Hamptons, New Hampshire, Hudson Valley, Annapolis and even London. Through hosting on eat with. I marry my love of cooking, entertaining and hospitality. Our pop up events provides the opportunity to connect with strangers and friends, to mingle and chat over a good old fashioned home cooked meal. Its more like being part of an informal dinner party, without the pretence and walls, its an old-school social network of friends and strangers, brought together over a common goal - the desire for good food.
