Food has always been an important part of my life. When I was little I could spend hours with my little brother pretending to be a chef, creating tasty dishes from the ingredients we could get our hands on in the kitchen - delicious paprika and cocoa powder soups, caraway seed and flour pastes and even the odd sand pie! As I grew older I began to take sides in the debates about recipes that were customary around our family’s dinner table and found myself inviting my friends and family around for dinners more and more often. Whilst living in London my passion for seasonal, local ingredients grew, as well as my craving for Hungarian flavours. I was recreating my Grandmother’s recipies using the surprising selection of locally grown fruit and vegetable I was able to get hold of in the British capital. I continued to invite my friends over to share with me these new combinations and maybe drink the odd bottle of wine or two. Now back in Budapest I’d like to share the experience of seasonal and delicious Hungarian meals with others. Living and travelling abroad has showed me how sharing even the simplest of meals can give so much more than just nourishment. Sharing food has helped me gain an insight into other cultures and I’m excited to have the opportunity now to share the best of what Hungary has to offer with you!
What hosts are saying about Fanni
This was a fantastic event! Fanni was a great host and was very welcoming. She introduced each of the dishes that we ate and let us know a little about the background of the community organisation where the meal was held. I was looking for an introduction to Hungarian cuisine and food culture and that's exactly what I got - great food, great setting and great company. I couldn't recommend it more.
