Born in Spain, lived in Ireland, Japan, and the USA. I teach Spanish culture, literature, film, gastronomy, etc., basically, all things Spain. I arrived in Kentucky to finish my Ph.D. in Hispanic culture in 2003 and moved 10 years ago to the one and only Motor City. Since then, I am thrilled to see the strong come back of the unique Detroit. I am a cultural critic who loves disseminating the Mediterranean lifestyle, particularly through its food. Cooking and eating among good people have been always my passions. Eating brings people together, creates emotions, and long-lasting feelings. Sitting around a table over great dishes and amazing company is one of the most valuable activities that I nurture and treasure. Cooking is an essential way to channel my creativity and reconnect with my identity. Food is my life and Spanish cuisine is my heart. Meeting people and hosting them over a great meal and conversation is simply one of the best pleasures on earth.
What hosts are saying about Jorge
The food and the environment was perfect - 10/10 - Coquis & Jorge were spectacular hosts with a ton of knowledge, master cooking & arranging skills, and delighted us with extra surprises along the way. I saved the menu in the hope that someday I will try to recreate this awesome evening myself!
