Nice to meet you! I am Maria, a freelance writer and a traveller - not a professional chef. Though, when I was a child, I wanted to be one :-). I grew up in the soft landscapes of Upper Austria with a big garden and nature all around. My mother showed me how to cook, later on - between my studies - I worked in the kitchen of a little guest house in the Alps. This is how I learned to make the famous Austrian sweet dish "Kaiserschmarren". For my guests I am cooking simply and authentic traditional food from Austria. The season will decide what to find on your plate. I use fresh ingredients and vegetables from farmers, markets, a foodcoop as well as organic products. Travelling for me is all about meeting people and tasing local food. Generally, I like to travel to less visited places. I absolutely love exploring my own country as well. My philosophy of life is that success is not a matter of money, it is about doing what you love.

What hosts are saying about Maria
Maria was a wonderful host and we had a fabulous meal. Everything was seasonal, fresh, local, and traditionally Austrian. The portions were generous without being too heavy and the drinks were paired nicely with the dishes. Maria was so welcoming and took the time to speak with us about Austrian culture, politics, and other things to do during our stay. This was a fabulous experience that we would recommend to anyone traveling to Salzburg!
