Celebrating a special occasion? Book the whole table
We are Giovanna and Cristina, 2 best friends who love to share their passion for food and cooking. Inspired by traditional Italian food passed down in our families by our mothers and grandmothers, we decided to open our homes to create memorable experiences for their guests. We believe that simple local food is the best food which is why we use fresh, local, seasonal ingredients in our dishes. Like many Italians we know that a good meal is only made better by a glass of wine and good conversation which is why we love to explain to ous guests about the dishes, the ingredients also what the joy of cooking and sharing a meal means to us. Relish the moment, Italian style, we take you on a journey and invite you to our table. Giovanna I work for the contemporary art museum in Rome and also uses my blog Burroealici.blogspot.it (Butter and Anchovies) to share my passion for food with others. Cristina After 7 years in London, I returned home where I run a small B&B in Rome. This is when I decided with my life-long friend, Giovanna, to create memorable experiences through sharing my culture and knowledge of food. We had a lovely experience at the dinner. The hostesses were friendly and accommodating, the food was wonderful: at once interesting and delicate and also a welcome change from "restaurant food" to traditional yet inventive Roman food. The terrace and apartment were pleasant and clean, and the serving aesthetically pleasing. It was so delightfu leave the more touristic settings and meet local people and customs. Highly recommended.
Giovanna E Cristina prepared tasty food, and plenty of it. The space had a locals feel with endearing and impressive décor courtesy of the children in the family. We really liked the food and the other guests at the dinner. We have enjoyed several eat with dinners in various cities and this experience missed the mark for two main reasons. Firstly, the price point felt a little too high when factoring in other eat with dinners in Rome that offer a more polished experience for the same price. Secondly, and we considered not including this in our review, Giovanna’s conversational skills left something to be desired. She talked about herself throughout the entire dinner, didn’t ask any questions and never listened or took interest in what others had to say. There was little room for anyone else to speak much during the dinner. Part of the joy of attending these dinners is to meet and connect with people from all over the world. Unfortunately, Giovanna did not successfully facilitate or allow for this to organically happen. Based on that, we would not recommend this dinner, nor will we be back.
