A sailor by profession with a flair for cooking, our Head chef Ankit, joined the sea at the age of 18 and raised through the ranks to become a Captain of a merchant ship. Through the 13 years of sailing, Ankit has had the privilege of savoring different cuisines from around the world; from gorging on street food to indulging in fine dining experiences at Michelin Star restaurants. As a home trained chef with a passion for cooking, he decided to leave a successful career at the sea and pursue his true calling.. A native of Goa, raised in the cosmopolitan city of Mumbai, Ankit aspires to bring the flavours from the west coast of India to the London Food revolution. Thus the journey of Kona-Kana began…… KONA-KANA - Literally means the “The Corner Piece”. The Konkan belt on the west coast of India runs across 3 states - Maharashtra, Goa, and Karnataka. The cuisine is an intricate blend of flavours from Malvan, Goa and South India. At KONA-KANA you will experience these exciting flavours through a variety of vegetarian, meat and seafood dishes. Our inspiration is derived from our mother’s kitchens, the street foods of Mumbai and the in-famous beach shacks of Goa. With the London food scene exploding and chefs gravitating towards fusion food we at Kona-Kana decided to keep it original by introducing the unique flavours from the west coast of India in its true essence.
