Hey there, I'm Aaron, 35 and I have been cooking for 16 years professionally. My specialties are pastry and seafood. When I'm not cooking I travel around the world to get inspiration about food and design and to experience different cultures. Before cooking I studied architecture and I also studied interior design after I graduated from cooking school. My passion is to be creative in any field that challenges me. I'm a big collector of art in many forms which you will experience in the space where you'll be eating in my home at a former factory on the border of Amsterdam. What to expect at Aaron's place
A friend invited me to Aarons pop up event and unexpectedly this turned into a food experience I havent had in a long time. The food was delicious, the presentation fantastic and carried through to the smallest details. Super fresh, well prepared, and original. Every dish was paired with a drink that enhanced the flavours. A very intimate atmosphere was created and the size of group was small but perfect. Everything but then really everything was taken care of down to the last detail.
Een unieke locatie op het historische Hembrugterrein waar je in de huiskamer vol kunst vanuit de hele wereld door chef Aaron wordt meegenomen op een culinaire reis. Spannende smaakcombinaties, mooie opmaak en passende drankjes bij elk gerecht. Bijzonder om mee te kunnen kijken in de keuken en te zien ontstaan wat je later zult proeven. Een aanrader voor een ieder die met een klein gezelschap op hoog niveau wil dineren.
By the water front just at the edge of the old industrial area of Amsterdam west, this dining experience is settled in the living room of the chef himself. The concept of bringing fine dining into a home environment, being able to truly experience the creation of each dish with casual chats and involvement with the chef, was a very nice experience and completely new to me. Dining at someones home naturally creates a very relaxed atmosphere for spontaneous conversations and engagements, the ambiance here was equally intimate and warm. The menu was set to a five course dinner with complementary drinks that all followed a set theme for the evening. And just as the interior setting consist of an eclectic mix of designer toys, vintage furniture and modern art, the menu offers the same dynamic influences from around the world - from the Dutch nettle soup starter to the tuna sashimi and the ”chicken and egg” dish inspired by traditional French flavours. Overall I found each dish impeccable. Great combinations in flavour and texture - you can tell a lot of detail and creativity went into the creation of this menu. All presented wonderfully on the plate.
Afgelopen vrijdag op een heuse verrassende locatie een intiem diner van meerdere gangen genoten met leuke onbekenden. Aaron kookt verfijnd en verassend met verse (o.a. Aziatische ) ingrediënten. Zowel de sfeer als het eten waren top. Voldaan en gelukkig , maar niet vol , naar huis terug.
