Pimento is a unique private dining experience that offers a modern multi-course culinary journey into the landscape of the Caribbean and Southeast Asia, with an emphasis on bold flavors and distinctive techniques. Chef Toya Henry shares her love of the land and sea through food and beverages in her modern private dining studio in the heart of Brooklyn. She delivers an intimate and distinctive dining experience that celebrates the abundance of seasonal and fresh ingredients, influenced by her Caribbean heritage and traditions.

At this time, guests are limited to private dining for parties of 4-8 guests to provide everyone with a safe and comfortable experience. 
   
What to expect: 
• A curated seasonal five-course Chef's menu made with a selection of organic ingredients
• Carefully selected wine pairings and special cocktails created by Toya 
• Dine in a modern designed studio splashed with a Caribbean twist featuring custom art designed by Shatha Al Dafai

More about your host:
First-generation West Indian-American Toya Henry is transforming the perspective of Caribbean cuisine into modern dishes.  
At the young age of ten, Toya had found her way into the kitchen; where she first learned how to cook from her West Indian grandparents and parents. After finishing school and pursuing a career in fashion, Toya began to travel abroad. During her excursions, she was able to gain in-depth knowledge about farming, spices, and methods to enhance her cooking techniques. From her journeys, Toya rediscovered her passion for cooking, which led her to work with Chef, Erik Bruner-Yang (Maketto & Broken English), Chef Mina Stone (Mina's @ PS1), and renowned chefs at The James Beard Foundation. Under their tutelage, she refined her natural talents and found a position in the kitchen of a well-known South East Asian Gastropub in Brooklyn.  Leveraging her experience and natural talent, Ms. Henry launched Pimento in the summer of 2018, followed by her Atelier in the summer of 2020. She has since hosted supper clubs, private events, and parties throughout the New York City area.

At the age of ten, I was first introduced to the kitchen by my Caribbean parents and grandparents. From that point on, I have continued to be obsessed with mastering Caribbean techniques, along with sharing my passion for food.

Though cooking meals for my family was a daily part of my upbringing, I studied design in school before eventually pursuing a career in fashion as Creative Director for a design publication. However, despite my love for my career, my passion for cooking was revived when I traveled abroad to several parts of Asia and the Caribbean.  During my excursions, I was able to observe new farming techniques, taste new spices, and learn methods that I eventually incorporated into my arsenal.  Finally, I shifted the focus from fashion into food, which led me to work with James Beard award-winning Chef, Erik Bruner-Yang of Maketto & Spoken English, and Chef Mina Stone at Mina's, PS1. Under their tutelage, I refined my natural talents and found a position in the kitchen of a well-known South East Asian Gastropub in Brooklyn.
 
Leveraging my experience and natural talent, I launched Pimento Catering in the summer of 2018. Since then I have hosted private events and supper clubs throughout New York City, and I am eager to host your next event.
